S’aimer soi-même (Translation French to English: LOVE YOURSELF)

In all the types of love that have been written about through the ages, the one thing all have in common is you. In order for any love to happen at all, it starts within you. It is said that you cannot love someone else unless you love yourself first. So what is this thing called love? How do you love yourself so you can love someone else? What happens if I love myself more than others? Don’t two halves make a whole? Well…

Love Yourself

1. Love is everlasting – Lust is fleeting. Love is often the fruit of our investments. Selfish lust-filled people only invest in their own interests and therefore tend to love themselves more than others. When we begin to serve and invest our resources in helping others, our love for them will begin to grow, as we begin to love ourselves.
2. Love covers – Imperfections and Transgressions. Not only are healthy loving relationships based on what we can give and invest in the ones we have joined our hearts to … but it is kept inspired and blessed through forgiveness – not just forgiveness of others, but more importantly forgiveness of ourselves.
3. Love gives – First, Last and Always. Love is measured by what is given, not by what is received. The world may measure love by what is received rather than by what is given … and love gives – first, last and always – In fact, love will require a gift, the greatest gift ….. yourself. As a minimum, love demands you give yourself.

You must love yourself and all of yourself before asking someone to love all of you. Two halves don’t make a whole in healthy relationships! Two wholes make One healthy loving relationship. A relationship that is kept alive by each “whole” being willing to gift themselves to each other. And what happens if the one we love doesn’t love us? Begin reading this again from the beginning!
