Spring Ahead!

As we have already began to see early on; spring is definitely on the way. The weather is warmer, and you’ve already ditched your favorite coat for a light sweater or jacket. Flowers have began blooming and filling all of the floral shops! With the Spring season there always seems to be a spark in people that you don’t see in the fall and winter months. People are more energized, and coming outside, meeting for brunch, headed to the park, etc. It’s refreshing to see. This month daylight savings time comes on March 12, 2017 in which we have to spring ahead our clocks 1 hour. For some, this is dreaded due to the fact that you have to get up an hour earlier. For others, it gets them excited about having a little more time in the day!

Even if you’re not the person that’s excited for daylight savings time, it’s coming regardless. So why not prepare yourself?

Here are some things you can do to prepare. We promise, you’ll thank us later.

  1. Clean out your closet. – put away all those winter clothes! Box them up and store them to make room for your spring/summer wardrobe.

  2. Start going to bed early now. – this way, that hour that got taken away from you won’t even be a big deal. Your body will adjust more smoothly.

  3. Get some sun. – try sleeping with the curtains up to let light in when you wake up. Studies have shown that sucide rates actually increase during the fall of daylight savings time. (New York Times) We associate more with light for being awake, so why not wake up to a beautiful sunrise?

Many people believe that daylight savings time isn’t necessary any longer, but yet it is something we still use. There are some states, that have opted out of daylight savings time completely. If there ever comes a day that we all don’t have to utilize daylight savings time then we may not even need these steps. Who knows? What do you think? Are you a fan of daylight savings time?
